Russia - World Happiness Index 2019 The happiness index, calculated as the difference between shares of happy and unhappy people in a country, reached 24 points in Russia in 2019, down from 50 points two years ago. The World Happiness Report ranks 156 countries by variables that support well-being, including GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, social freedom, generosity and absence of corruption. Russia is now the 68th-happiest place on Earth, wedged between Pakistan and the Philippines, The Happiness Index. The World Happiness Report is a landmark survey of the state of global happiness that ranks 156 countries by how happy their citizens perceive themselves to be. The report is produced by the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network in partnership with the Ernesto Illy Foundation. Except for its 10th place ranking for income, the US doesn't rank in the top 10 on measures that make up a happy country in the UN report. They include 12th place for generosity, 37th place for social support, 61st place for freedom and 42nd place for corruption. Addiction is partly to blame, The 2018 report features the happiness score averaged over the years 2015-2017. As per the 2018 Happiness Index, Finland is the happiest country in the world. The Gallup-Healthways index, released for the year 2013, puts the Latin American country at number one, with war-torn Syria and Afghanistan coming in last in a survey of 135 countries. The international survey, entitled The State of Global Well-being , conducted more than 133,000 interviews across the world, coming up with its ‘inaugural report’.
